The Senior School’s reverse advent calendar brought a sense of community during the month of December. Every day there was an opportunity for pupils, staff and parents to open a virtual ‘window’, accessed via our Community Portal page.

A huge number of staff and students got involved, either filming themselves or sharing a community-based thought or challenge for that day. Launched by Mrs Heard via a school assembly, the school was challenged to help others during this month with activities ranging from ‘helping at home’, ‘showing gratitude’ and ‘resolving conflict’.

Particular favourites have been the family Saturday challenges by ‘creating nature Christmas decorations’ to ‘making a stop-motion film’ and the ‘self-Sundays’ where we have taken time out for ourselves.

Pupils have also got involved and outlined causes which resonated with them, such as the sixth form video on mental health created for the 15 December following our Hello Yellow mental health awareness campaign and Lexi W in Year 8 made a very passionate claim for supporting dementia care via the Alzheimer’s society on day 10 of the calendar. Lexi also marked her support for the Alzheimer’s Society by dressing up as an elf on house day, as part of her personal fundraising campaign. A huge thank you to everyone involved in a very successful reverse advent this year!
