Senior School music competition

What a celebration of musical talent we enjoyed on Wednesday 16 at the grand finale Senior School music competition concert!

The Music School was buzzing throughout the day as students came and went to perform in their various sections or practise in the practice rooms. The overall standard of the competition was first-rate; with the overall winners and runners up of each musical section as follows:

Junior drums:

Winner: Aaron R, Sweet child of mine – Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Runner-up: Henry Z, Are you going to go my way – Lenny Kravitz

Junior guitar:

Winner: Conall C, Johnny be good – Chuck Berry

Ensemble:

Winner: String Ensemble (Rishi B, Maria E, Adeline I, Isabel J) – America, West Side Story – Bernstein

Runner-up: Duo Singing (Chloe W, Isabella L.), Party in the USA – Miley Cyrus

Junior orchestral strings:

Winner: Phoebe T, Harp, Skye Boat Song –  Scottish Traditional

Runner-ups: Adeline I, Violin, Black Eyes -Russian. Isabel J, Chello, Allegro – Marcello

Senior orchestral strings:

Winner: Rishi B, Violin, Faure -Violin Sonata – Finale

Runner-up- Axyl B, Violin, Allegro-Veracini

Junior woodwind and brass:

Winner: Luca L,  Sax, Mercy, mercy, mercy – Zainful

Runner-up: T0m O, Trumpet, Ragamuffin – Pam Wedgewood

Senior woodwind and brass:

Winner: Zachary S, Trombone, The Acrobat – Greenwood

Runner-up- Maya R, Trumpet, Somewhere, West side story – Bernstein

Junior piano:

Winner: Jinny P, Fountains of the Rain-W. Gillock

Runner-up: Elisa H, Over the Rainbow-J. Garland

Senior piano:

Winner: Maria E, Prelude – Clara Schumann

Runner-up: Macarena T, Variations – Mozart

Junior solo singing:

Winner: Isabella L, Maybe this time – Cabaret

Runner-ups: Isabel J, Caro mio ben – Tommaso Giordani. Sebastian F, Singing in the rain – Gene Kelly

Senior solo singing:

Winner: Jess F- Londonderry air

Runners-up: Alfie S – My funny valentine. Holly R – Dream a little dream of me.
