After a long period of theatre closures, we were delighted that our sixth formers could watch a performance of Hamlet at the candle-lit Sam Wannamaker Theatre, part of The Globe Theatre, on London’s sunny Southbank on Tuesday 8 February. Understanding multiple interpretations of the play is an integral part of the literature A level exam, and this modern, innovative performance made for much discussion as we headed home. It was a memorable afternoon which allowed students to have a truly immersive experience of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy.
