Congratulations to Rosie, LJ, and Comet for a successful competition!
U13A v Christ’s School
The U13A girls put in a great team performance to secure a 5-1 victory against Christ School. Claremont showed patience on the ball, good 1v1 abilities against defenders and excellent defending in transition to ensure they came out as the better side in all facets of the game.
Goals from Izzy, Zahra and Grace were the least we deserved in a game where the score could have been a lot heavier if Claremont had been a touch more clinical in the box. Well done to all the girls and especially Sophie and Annabelle as Year 7s playing up a year!

St Swithun’s, who reached the quarter finals at last year’s Nationals, started brightly, taking advantage of Claremont’s sluggish opening to grab an early lead. Claremont responded with grit, gradually taking control, and in the second half, showing the skill expected of this side. A couple of moments of magic in front of goal proved the difference as they edged a 6-5 win.
The return of co-captain Xandi, named MVP after more than a year out, was a highlight and lift for the players and supporters alike. The spirit from the girls in substitution rotation was also superb – they were like an extra player, constantly cheering, driving standards, and demanding more from their team-mates. By the end Claremont looked thew stronger side and can now head into their next match with real confidence.
U18C v St Swithun’s
The 3s started the game well with good skills under pressure during the first and second quarter. The defence stepped up in quarter 2 to keep St Swithun’s to 1 goal. Unfortunately, the limited numbers on the bench meant a four goal run to St Swithun’s in Q3 which we were unable to claw back. Player’s MVPs went to Iona and Tilly. Coach’s MVP also went to Iona for some fantastic doorstop saves and sensible clears.
U18D v St Swithun’s
The D’s had a strong start winning the first draw and heading straight to goal. Swithun’s came back and despite being an equal looking game on the pitch managed to pull ahead on the score line. POM went to Olivia and Flora. Bella also made many great saves to keep using much of the game.
U15A v St Swithun’s
With numbers down from illness, the girls dug deep, working hard to apply what we’ve been focusing on in training and showing fantastic signs of progress.
U15B v St Swithun’s
The U15Bs started strongly, taking a five-goal lead going into the half time break. There were some fantastic team goals during the second half and the fast break defence meant St Swithun’s were kept to two goals across the entire game. Player’s MVP went to Lola Rose and Nat. Coach’s MVP went to Holly for some fantastic work in her new role in the midfield.
U14A v St Swithun’s
The 14A’s produced an excellent performance, coming away with a well-deserved win in what was truly a game of two halves. The first half was steady, with the team finding their rhythm and matching their opponents across the pitch. As the game went on, confidence grew and the players began to assert themselves physically, breaking up the opposition’s play and winning key battles.
In attack, the team showed real intent, driving strongly towards goal and creating several good scoring opportunities. Some of the highlights came from slick passages of team play that resulted in well-worked goals. The match was capped off in dramatic style with a superb late save from Issy, securing the victory and underlining a strong all-round team performance.
U14B v St Swithun’s
A challenging game for the 14B’s. Despite some good displays in midfield, we struggled to transition into attack and to contain St Swithun’s attackers. POM went to Pops and Beth.
U12A v St Swithun’s
Fantastic first match of the season with a competitive scoreline throughout. With large substitute benches, players were able to take well-earned breaks after working hard on the pitch. Special mention goes to Anabel C and Grace, who both played outstandingly well.
1st v St Swithun’s
The 1st VII, although short on players and a few injured, worked very well in this tied game. It was close throughout and very contested. Well done to Claremont and their resilience to not let scores slip and put in what we did at practice, into play!
1st v CLFS
A great, competitive game for the 1st VII this Wednesday. Preparing for Surrey Schools, their slick game play and versatility showed in a controlled game throughout. Against a physical side, the team kept possession of the ball and managed to convert despite a few players getting injured. Well done to all involved!
2s v St Swithun’s
A tough match for our 2’s this weekend with a loss against Swithun’s. We had extremely consistent defensive who stuck to task for a full 40 minute match. The team were able to put practice from their training into the game which resulted in lots of turn-over of the ball. Well done girls!
2s v CLFS
A terrific game of netball where the ball was down both ends of the court. The transitioning down the court helped us and the pupils really implemented and applied coaching feedback.
U14A v St Swithun’s
A fantastically contested game in the first and final quarters which were goal for goal. From a backline defence through to goal was consistent and we were able to work the ball around the circle with patience. Excellent long-range shots from the shooters kept us in touch making it an exciting game.
U14A v Sir William Perkins
A fantastic performance from the U14A side, showcasing slick attacking play and effective ball transitions down the court. A very well-deserved player of the match went to Alice B.
U13B v St Swithun’s
Great play from the U13Bs. The team started out strong and transitioned the ball effectively down the court. The shooting was accurate, and the defensive players worked hard to get the turnovers. A well thought game from both teams.
U12A v Sir William Perkins
A tough cup game for the U12A team who fought hard but could not quite convert the ball to goal. With some great rebounds and defence, the team struggled to gel in their attacking third. Some slick movement throughout though and well done to those involved.
U12B v St Swithun’s
The U12bs thought hard throughout the game, against some tough opposition. All players worked hard to reduce their errors and became more cohesive as a team as the game went on.
U15A v Isleworth & Syon
A frankly frustrating trip through Twickenham, found the massed hordes descending on the Women’s World Cup Final more difficult to negotiate than the eleven opposition team members that turned up. An eleven a side contest was swiftly negotiated, the game reduced to a gentle training run, such was the dominance of the CFC squad. Tries rained in from every attack, perhaps the highlight Lucas plucking a restart direct from the sky to saunter in untouched. With little or no challenge, CFC should be disappointed to have conceded a score, but with the coach ringing extravagant changes (at one point all eleven squad forwards were on the pitch), this match can be swiftly glossed over and taken for the fun round around it was. The 64-5 margin was a generous underscoring on a one sided frippery.
U15B v Dulwich College U15D
The U15Bs lost a 40-14 game that was more competitive than the scoreline suggest. The last 10 minutes of the first half were where the game got away from us, but the boys competed and fought to the end of the game, especially impressive when we had no substitutes! Tries from Charlie M and Ollie W were the standout moments for CFC, along with a MOM performance from Brodie.
U14A v Isleworth & Syon
A sizeable opposition made Claremont work hard this weekend. I&S ran direct, not giving the Claremont team time to draw breath. Some poor tackling allowed three tries early in the first half. Claremont failed to establish a structure to their game and as a result were 31 points down at the interval. In the second half the 15 were much more spirited and came close to scoring on a number of occasions. Eventually persistence paid off and Tom C dotted down. Claremont shipped two more tries late in the second half to give I&S a flattering win. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic; the 15 showed great character, with Rupert W and Will C both causing the opposition problems. Jack D pulled the strings at fly half and is expected to be running the show before long.
U14B v Isleworth & Syon
A long trip to Dulwich but made worthwhile by the competitive fixture and hospitality. As a game, the boys started well, with Dylan Po making a strong break and running almost 70 yards. This led to Claremont first try by Giles, converted brilliantly by Dylan Pe. At this stage, it looked like Claremont would dominate, but gradually Dulwich‘s stronger runners began to make an impression. From a try up it became 3 tries to 1 down. However, when in possession, Claremont now showed excellent discipline and maintained an excellent pattern of play. This persistence paid off and when half time came the score was 4 tries to 2.
The second half started with a few mistakes and allowed Dulwich to get an advantage but overall, this was incredibly close contest and the difference between the teams came down to defence. Claremont were slow to get up to shut down the runners and didn’t manage to turn over much ball meaning Dulwich kept running at us. Eventually, all those runs turned into points. However, Claremont never gave up and the final play of the game was another brilliant team try this time by Oscar. This game showed amazing improvement in a very short space of time. Forwards and backs linked together well and structure was good. Now the challenge is to try and do things with more speed and accuracy.
U13A v Isleworth & Syon
An unexpected change to the format resulted in the A-team being split into two 7-a-side teams who played against Isleworth and Syon and then against each other. Against I & S both teams played well with standout performances from Will G, defending intelligently and attacking powerfully. Angus T was one of the big tacklers on the day. Eddie H lowered his body height to make some crunching tackles, and ran very effective lines. Charlie B was great. Jimmy W, lead his team well and was a strong attacking player. Overall a decent performance in unexpected circumstances.
U12A v Isleworth & Syon
Isleworth and Syon arrived with 12 players for two games. The U12A faced off against 8 of their players and leant them four of ours. The team used this as an opportunity to develop their skills. Ball handling let us down at critical moments, resulting in us not converting our chances. The team continues to make good progress.
U15A & U13A – ESSA Regionals
This week marked a special milestone as our swimmers took part in their first ever entry into the ESSA competition. Facing some very tough opposition, the team rose to the occasion, showing determination, resilience, and great team spirit throughout. Every swimmer gave their best, and it was a fantastic opportunity to gain experience at this high level of competition. Well done to all swimmers involved – a brilliant step forward and something to build on for the future.
U15 Girls Reach National LTA Youth Schools Final!
After a fantastic season last year, our U15 Girls’ tennis team earned a place in the finals of the National LTA Youth Schools Competition. Due to the timing of the academic calendar, the final took place at the start of this academic year, where we faced a strong team from St Teresa’s A Team.
It was an incredibly close and hard-fought match, with every player showing outstanding determination, resilience, and sportsmanship. The match ended in a 3–3 draw, pushing us into a championship tie-break to decide the winner. Despite a valiant effort, we narrowly missed out, finishing as runners-up in the national competition. A huge well done to the team, Anais P, Olivia B, Poppy M, and Jessica L for their dedication and incredible performance throughout the season. You’ve made us all proud!
