Athletics

Massive congratulations to all of our students who participated in the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships. They all performed with amazing determination to proudly represent both Claremont and West Surrey.

Will G had a great day competing in the U13 high jump and 75m hurdles. He came second in his heat and progressed to the final, where he finished a commendable 6th overall. He jumped an impressive 1.40m in the high jump to finish 6th overall.

Ethan S ran his socks off in the U13 800m final. This was one of the best track races of the day. Ethan tucked in and covered the moves off the front. In the home straight, he dug in deep to come home 3rd overall. Well done on your bronze medal.

Pippa H found the competition in the U13 discus hard, with the winner showing her class. However, the best was yet to come, as she dominated the U13 shot and is the 2025 Prep School champion – well done, Pipa!

Ellie W cruised through her U14 hurdles heat to set up for a battle in the final. Fast out of the blocks, Ellie was on the shoulder of the runner from the East. Shoulder to shoulder, they outstripped the rest of the field; however, Ellie was out-dipped on the line. Massive congratulations on your silver medal.

Sports Day

A fast, frantic, fun-filled Sports Day saw track, field, relays, and novelty races, with competitors from every House giving their all. Water races, dragons, dinosaurs, and a hotly contested staff race (take a bow, PE staff) all contributed to a terrific atmosphere to close the sporting term.

Cricket

U13A v Esher High

The U13A played their last match of the season against Esher High on a very hot day in a reduced 15-over match. After the opposition, who had three Surrey players, managed to score 107/9, the Claremont boys set about chasing the score. With Oscar and Hugo opening, they stayed on track, leaving 12 required off the last six balls. CFC then had to face the Surrey opening pace bowler, who made things difficult, and unfortunately they fell just five short, ending on 102/3.

A great effort from the team, with excellent batting from Oscar, retiring on 30, and Hugo falling short of the chase despite his valiant 28. Earlier, there was some excellent bowling from Nathan A, taking 3 wickets for 8 runs in 2 overs.

Tennis

U15 Boys

A double celebration to report, as a stunning fightback from Ben C sealed victory for the U15 boys against Dulwich College in the LTA National League Final. Claremont won all six matches on the day, comprehensively outhitting their opponents, with singles wins for Charlie S, Ben C, Harry S, and Nathaniel R-T, ahead of the doubles victories. Game of the day belonged to Ben C, who recovered from 1–5 and a match point to snatch the set 7–5, working hard for every point in an energy-sapping stamina test.

U15 Girls

Claremont U15 Girls progressed to the final of the LTA National League, winning both doubles matches to take the tie 4–2. KGS won the first and third singles, with Claremont taking the second and fourth, leaving the match evenly balanced following the singles. Two convincing victories in these final pairings mean the final awaits, to be played against St Theresa at the start of September, next term. Well done, girls — ice cream well deserved!

STA Nationals

ISTA Championships 2025 – Season Finale

As the tennis season draws to a close, the ISTA Championships provided a fitting and exciting end to a year of dedication, teamwork, and competitive spirit. We proudly entered teams across multiple age groups: Senior Boys, Senior Girls, U15 A & B Boys and Girls, and U13 A & B Boys and Girls. Across all divisions, our students displayed outstanding tennis, resilience, and sportsmanship.

The U15A Girls showcased remarkable skill by winning both of their box matches, securing a place in the quarterfinals of the Cup. Although they were narrowly defeated by Surbiton, they advanced to the Shield semi-finals, where they put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short against Bradford.

The U13A Boys also had an impressive run, winning both their box matches and advancing to the quarterfinals. They faced a tough battle against St George’s and, despite a valiant effort, were defeated — still finishing among the top eight teams, which is a fantastic achievement.

The U13A Girls topped their box to make it into the Cup rounds. Although they didn’t progress further, the standard of tennis was exceptionally high, and the team’s determination was clear throughout the tournament.

Across all age groups, the level of play was intense, and our students rose to the occasion with grit and grace. I am incredibly proud of their efforts, growth, and unwavering spirit throughout the season.
