Miles McM achieved a spectacular result at the CLFS Elite Epee event on 19th October, winning his first competition. He fenced brilliantly and kept his nerve to win fight after fight in a strong field of competitors from across the Great Britain (and one from Ukraine). Miles followed this success with an 8th place in his next competition and a 5th in Manchester in November which cements his standing as one of the top Under 12 fencers in the country.
Arabella F had a very tough event but gave a solid performance to finish 17th. She is working exceptionally hard on her fencing and is improving steadily with increasingly more consistent performances in competition. Her current British Under 14 ranking is 14th which coach Maynard believes will improve across the coming season.
Claremont U13 girls football team were playing in the 2nd round of ESFA Under 13 Cup against Hall School Wimbledon, it was a tremendous performance by CFC which was dominated by Claremont over both halves winning 8-0. Goals scored by Isobele 4, Teddi 2, Isabella 1 and Poppy 1. Great team play with MVP going to Isobele S and Emilie M in defence.
Many congratulations to Holly R, Amber-Lily C, Summer L who all progressed through to the Wales Lacrosse Academy having travelled to Cardiff to trial with them over the first weekend of half term. We are very proud of their achievement.
A great victory for the Seniors yesterday against City of London Freeman School. Our senior netball had 4 teams out, with the 1st VII drawing a nail-biting game, the three other Senior teams all recording commendable victories. These competitive matches were a great start to this half term and all teams played outstandingly. Looking forward to more victories in the future and well done to all those who took part.
We are continuing to build our U12 netball programme with some brilliant fixtures against Manor House. The A and B team demonstrated some strong performances, and it was so positive to see them implementing lots of things we have been focusing on – one of which is shooting! Both teams really worked successfully as a unit and special mentions must go to POM Gigi and Hattie. Also thank you to Isla S from Year 13 who helped to lead the netball matches with Mrs Rixon.
We have a block fixture against Cedars this coming Saturday 9th November – watch out for match reports on these first games after the half term break in next week’s Sports Round Up
Won 35-20. Claremont U13As secured a hard-fought 35-20 victory over St James in a thrilling match just before the half term break. St James struck first, but Claremont responded well, levelling the score by halftime. Strong defensive performances, again from Jay V, who tackled relentlessly, Jakob S and Elijah H, also dominated defensively, to keep St James in check. Will C played with intelligence throughout and scored 2 well earned tries. Adrianos F was immense in contact. Max S and Oliver B, on their first start for the As, worked well to have an impact on the game. Archie B was an excellent starting scrum-half, controlling the game’s tempo. The standout moment came when Leo B powered through the St James defence with pace and strength to score a brilliant try, turning the game in Claremont’s favour for the final stretch. Though there’s room for improvement in attacking pace, Claremont showed great resilience to claim the win.
