Archery

Four members of the Archery team ( Ella, Comet, Rosie and Finn) went to represent the school at the Atkins Soup shoot on Oct 20th. It was a super wet day with lots of lovely mud all over the place, the team shot well.

Finn came first for Jr Bearbow shooting the Western round (4 dozen at 60 and 4 dozen at 50 yards). Rosie came 1st junior and Comet 2nd Bearbow shooting the Western 50 (4 dozen at 50 yards and 4 dozen at 40 yards).

Ella came 3rd  shooting Bearbow on the Western 40 (4 dozen at 40 yards and 4 dozen at 30 yards). Very well done for Ella, in her very first away competition for the school. There was also a target prize for Comet (a random score chosen at the start of the shoot for each target and the archer closest to it wins a prize ). Finn had a fantastic trick shot where he shot the flag at the top of the target, well done. Lots of fun was had and they all shot very well; Coach Sarah is really proud of them.

Lacrosse

U15 County Tournament

A very productive day for the U15a team, despite us having a few injuries, it was clear the girls were in good spirits. They played St Catherine’s, Guildford High school, Putney High and Caterham. They worked hard in all their matches and had elements of outstanding play, however they were not quite consistent enough throughout the whole tournament. Despite this, they still finished in 4th place, which has set us in very good stead for south school and national schools. This team is extremely coachable and there is lots to work on moving forward.

1st

Another win for the first team! They are continuing to go from strength to strength every week. Some fantastic unit defence and teamwork in attack meant we came away with an 8-6 win against St Pauls. Goal of the day – Maddi and Indie’s pick and roll!

2nd

The 2nd lacrosse team showed great determination in a challenging match against St. Paul’s Girls’ School, eventually falling 11-3. St. Paul’s dominated early, but in the second half, Claremont improved defensively, with strong performances from Danielle Naude and Skye Williamson.

U15A

U15A’s had a great game prior to their county tournament on Tuesday. They were able to focus on refining some of the tactics they would be implementing in that tournament, with some exceptional goals scored by Yael M.

U15B

A close fought match against a strong St Paul’s side. Some great performances by Olivia in defence and transition as well as some good hustle on the draw by Alexa and Millie. We generated plenty of shots but couldn’t quite claw back the lead St Paul’s managed to gain early in the second half. We look forward to our next Saturday fixture against Benenden.

U14A

The 14’s continue to show masses of potential, an evenly matched St Pauls opponent leading to a 7-7 draw. After a rocky first half of unit attack and a slow start to the second half, the team went on a roll and managed to show some lovely unit attack play. Defence were again outstanding, getting numerous stops and turnovers including some fantastic saves from Faris H.

U13A

The U13A team put in a strong performance against St. Paul’s Girls’ School, but ultimately fell short, losing 10-5 after leading 5-4 at halftime. The first half was a thrilling contest, with the Claremont scoring two amazing goals, however, St Paul’s Girls School came back strongly in the second half as Claremont lost their momentum.

U13B

The U/13 B Team faced a tough challenge in their recent match against St. Paul’s, ultimately losing 10-5. The game got off to a rocky start for Claremont, as St. Paul’s scored within the first few seconds, putting the team on the back foot early on. By halftime, Claremont trailed 7-2.

The second half saw a marked improvement in the team’s performance. The girls dug deep, tightening up their defence, and showcasing great teamwork by passing the ball effectively and running into the gaps. They fought with determination, playing their hearts out until the final whistle. Despite a valiant effort, the final score did not fully reflect the hard work and resilience shown in the second half, with St. Paul’s finishing the match 10-5 ahead. A special mention goes to Emilie and Bella, who were both named Player of the Match for their outstanding contributions to the team’s performance. Well done girls

U12A

The U12As had a fantastic match on Saturday winning 7-2, they worked really hard on plays that we had focused on in lessons rather than just ‘fast breaks’ coming down the pitch. It is lovely to see lots of pupils having a go in different teams, and a very positive season so far.

U12B

The U12B lacrosse team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a 9-1 victory over St Paul’s. From the start, the team displayed brilliant teamwork, good passing, and fantastic shooting, quickly taking control of the game. Their cohesive defence and good teamwork limited St Paul’s scoring opportunities. Well done all who played!

12C

Won 10-5. A fantastic start in the first half saw Claremont taking a deserved lead. Kayla H demonstrated brilliant speed throughout the pitch, causing St Paul’s difficulty in gaining possession. Katie W came over from the A’s and had a great half in goal for the C team. Leading from the back, Katie was demanding her team to spread out for a goal clearance and gained terrific depth on her throw. When St Paul’s were on the attack, Katie W highlighted the need for a ‘crash’ to stop their defenders from scoring, well done girls! POM: Gigi and Kayla.

Netball

3rd and 4th team

The 3rd and 4th netball teams secured a double win on Wednesday against Kingston Grammar School. The 4th team showed great resilience after being down at the end of 1st quarter but made an astounding comeback to win 19 -6 ! The 3rd team had a great attitude and brilliant communication. It was great to see so many playeer having fun on the court.

U13 A and B

The U13 teams had a successful evening at Manor house on Monday. Both teams managed to win their games. Some excellent teamwork and great shooting lead the B team. Their fluid movement and effective communication made it difficult for the opposition to gain any ground, resulting in a dominant performance and a solid win.

U13B

On Tuesday, the U/13B Netball Team put on an impressive display of skill and teamwork in their match against Manor House, securing a dominant 24-2 victory. The girls moved the ball quickly down the court from the start, with a fast-paced performance led by Teddi in the centre. Her quick transitions and sharp passing helped put Claremont in the lead early on, giving the team a strong foundation for the rest of the game. The girls displayed excellent court awareness, changing direction with ease, and showing great confidence in receiving and distributing the ball. They also demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, as they tried out new positions and adjusted their play to slow the game down, giving Manor House the opportunity to get more touches on the ball. A special congratulations to Teddi, who was awarded Player of the Match for her exceptional performance and leadership on the court. The team should be very proud of their performance, and I have no doubt they will continue to build on this success in their upcoming matches. Well done, girls!

Rugby

Friday 8th November Harlequins vs. Ealing Trailfinders

Year 8 students enjoyed an entertaining evening watching Quins take on Ealing Trailfinders. A highlight was the half time show, Mr Isberg and Mr Gardiner delighted their students by taking on the half time Hamster Wheel challenge. This was a cracking night and a great result for both Claremont staff and Harlequins.

A challenging week for the school rugby squads, as our opponents were unable to field full squads in several age groups, regrettably including the 1st XV. For the most part Claremont were able to facilitate matches by loaning players, with some enjoyable games played as a result, even if numbers were not quite as expected.

2nd XV

Won 50-0. A manufactured game, against just 12 Caterham opponents led to Claremont players loaned and rotated to make a game of it.

U15A

Lost 31-43. Limited numbers was a real let down for this fixture. However arriving at Cedars, we found the opposition in the same boat. Strong runners and relentless pressure were the order of the day for Cedars, who quickly established a pattern of play that threatened to make this a very short and quick afternoon. But a change in tactics and an opportunity to go forward saw a huge change in fortune. Fighting tooth and nail for every yard gained, Hugo finally managed to break the line and run in our first try. In no time, Josh broke free and repeated the dose. Now the game was really on. Cedars continually threw their runners at our defence and although tackling was not always effective the boys never made a backwards step. Every breakdown that could be contested, the boys won, giving them a fighting chance. Cedars runners scored tries, some with strong team support. But Claremont kept coming back and in the last 10 minutes we dominated both possession and territory. The scores were brought almost level after consistent pressure, but with minutes to go and chasing that final score, Cedars running strength paid off and a breakaway try made the game safe for them. This was an outstanding team effort. The determination to slow down the opposition ball and then turn the game around showed immense character and pride. A narrow loss but a hugely positive team effort.

U14A

Won 72-14. A comprehensive one-sided victory for a rampant U14 A team, who remain unbeaten this term. Tries rained in from all parts, the size and power of Giles H and Ed C, too much for the game visitors to handle, while Eden M and Lucas R cut the opposition backline open at will, Charlie C out wide a major beneficiary. Certainly, there will be tougher assignments ahead, but this group play a great brand of rugby, on the front foot, eager to exploit gaps. Tries from Giles (3), Charlie (2), Eden, Lucas, Robbie W (on debut!) and a barnstorming burst and balletic sidestep from Ed allied to the dependable boot of Eden kept the scoreboard rattling. Two rapid fire tries from Cedars once their 15th player arrived, assisted by some fairly optional tackling, were the only lapses in an otherwise dominant display.

U13A

Won 35-10. In an unexpected twist, the match became 10-a-side, allowing pupils to try new positions. The first half saw Cedars defend fiercely, with some excellent tackling and rucking. Claremont, however, dominated offensively, leading 20-0 at halftime with a hat trick from Elijah H and a brilliant team try finished by Leo B. The second half was much closer, as Cedars defended even more vigorously and scored their first try. Adrianos F responded quickly, scoring from the kickoff, and Will C capped another strong team effort. Cedars finished with a late try in the final play. Special mention goes to Tom C for his season-best MVP performance, working hard to get lower in tackles and rucks. Well done, Claremont

U13B

Won 10-3. Loaned players again facilitated a game with Claremont emerging 10-3 winners. Highlights included four tries from Roshi A, who just keeps on scoring, matched by four from Freddie H!

U12A Won 7-2 & U12B Won 13-4
