Won 14-5. The U15’s stormed through this match with a new goalkeeper in goal Rose A. She settled in really well and was able to make some great saves. The goal of the game by Anais P, which stunned the whole sideline, rifled into the top left corner. Outstanding play girls, this match was an excellent demonstration of game management!
Lost 8-5. This past Saturday, the girls put in an incredible effort on the field, showcasing their determination and teamwork. Although we faced a challenging first half, trailing 4-2, the girls came back fighting in the second half, demonstrating great resilience. The quality of play was impressive, with the team effectively moving the ball and utilizing all players on the pitch. Our goalkeeper, Faris, played a crucial role, making excellent clearances out of the crease/goal area that allowed the Claremont girls to transition quickly and create scoring opportunities. Well done to Faris H and Mona S for being named players of the match for their outstanding performances. I am very proud of the entire team for their hard work and sportsmanship!
Won 10-4An end-to-end game in the first half, allowed Claremont to be competitive and chase down lots of ground balls. Defensively we were excellent, and Caterham struggled to get to goal in the second half. We discussed how getting the ball down to the attack was fantastic, but we were wasteful near goal. The girls altered this and scored three early goals in the second, with more accuracy in their passing, took the pressure of the team. Well done everyone! POM: Sienna T-O
Won 10-7. What an incredible game against Caterham! It was a tightly contested match, but the hard work of the U13B team truly paid off with a fantastic 10-7 victory. The girls showcased exceptional passing skills and dominated most of their challenges, which helped them secure the lead. Their teamwork and spirit were commendable, reflecting their dedication throughout the game. Well done to our goal scorers: Sylvie T, Emilie M, Amelie S, and Teddi W. Congratulations to Emilie M and Sylvie T for being named players of the match! Great job, team!
Won 9-5. The U12’s had their second ever competitive lacrosse fixture this weekend and beat Caterham convincingly 9-5. They showed fantastic passing techniques between them and were able to score some magnificent team goals – quite unusual for an U12 team, who usually run and shoot. A fantastic goal shot by Lucia C finished off the game!
Won 12-7. A fantastic start to the game with great attacking structure allowed Claremont to take an early lead. Excellent strength from Molly S at centre made it hard for the Caterham defence. Cecily N fought well for lots of ground balls, whilst Thea D, was technically fantastic with her stick work which put Claremont at ease when going to goal. POM- Tabby T and Alyssa.
The U19, U15 and U14 netball squads went to Surrey School’s this week, where they explored tournament netball and had a great day out playing lots of contrasting schools. The teams improved throughout the day and worked hard to develop their skills in much shorter matches than usual. With tactical defensive play and slick attacking groups, all teams showed how perseverance and teamwork are key on days like these. Well done to all involved!
Lost 10-12. Another home game drew the crowds to watch the 1st XV play against Hampton 3rd. On paper, this was going to be the toughest game with an equally matched set of players. Claremont came out strong with some robust carries from the pack in the form of Billy S and birthday boy Kai W. Hampton weathered the storm and after a long defensive play, the Claremont line was broken. The boys rallied well and quick thinking from captain Rhys D saw him put away Louie F-B to tie the score. The second half was a similar story, both sides battling hard in defence, however, more Claremont pressure saw Nico W dive in to make the game 10-5 and this was how the game stayed until the final 5 mins when a loose ball bounced in favour of the visitors who kicked the conversion to go 12-10 in front. Two weeks in a row, this side have been beaten in the dying moments but not for the want of trying. Player of the match went to vice-captain Sean H for another aggressive performance in defence
Lost 0-5. A desperately close match saw Claremont fall just short against Hampton. Hugely improved across the term, the team were unlucky not to level the scores, falling to a solitary try in an extremely tight encounter.
Won 35-0. A truly memorable first fixture with Hampton Boys U14A team. A fixture that only a few years ago would have seemed unrealistic and there is no question that other year groups in the school may find hard as this week goes on, but this Year 9’s are steadily becoming a force to be reckoned with. With the knowledge that this would be a tough encounter, the boys needed to start strongly, but a knock on from the kick off did not set the tone well. Hampton pounced and the next 10 minutes, Claremont clung on through desperate defence and some outstanding tackling, not least by Charlie who not only made tackles but turned over possession.
The tide of the game turned on a single moment. Claremont had regained possession and rather than allowing it to be easily lost again, they had two or three telling phases making ground until a ruck 5 yards in from touch on the half-way looked to have seen the end of the attack. As Max S picked and went blind on his own, initially this looked a mistake, but he suddenly found himself with open field and he galloped down the wing, evading the covering tacklers and scoring under the posts. Hampton withered from here on is as Claremont confidence to run at them grew and grew. The forward achieved dominance and once they knew that their offensive runs would always gain yards, all the runners joined in. Another try came swiftly from James S, again running in from distance but this time trampling Hampton’s tackling in the process.
The second half was much an even more confident performance. Giles H and Ed C were unstoppable in the forwards and the pick of the tries came from forward dominance and then a brilliant break by Lucas R who saw a gap in the back line created by a mismatch and streaked away to score. Charlie then rounded off his brilliant defensive performance with two outstanding tries, blasting through the defensive line. To cap it off Eden M proceeded to kick perfectly, slotting over all his conversions and making the score did the boys justice.
This was a brilliant all-round performance and one the boys should be extremely proud of. If anyone was not aware of this group of boys’ potential, then they certainly should be now.
Won 34-7. The U14A juggernaut thunders on, St James dispatched in a six try barrage. Giles H was the rock on which the Claremont effort revelled, with notable contributions from Charlie H and an inspired Josh M, a determined irritant in all that St James attempted.
Eden H, for once a little profligate off the tee, marshalled the team well, Ed C a willing ally on his shoulder, Lucas R the glue that cemented the back line attack. A thoroughly commendable effort from this highly promising team whose early dominance had the match won by the interval. Well done all, particularly those boys stepping up to A team level, all of whom deserved their chance, and took it with confidence.
Won 33-5. The U14Bs had another good win vs a skilful St James’s side, coming away with a impressive 33-5 win. The Walker brothers came away with a try each, along with Blake Askew, Elliot G & Callum M scoring a runaway try each. Ryan K was again a leader in defence, making countless tackles while Samuel P had a good game at flanker.
Lost 10-40. On a crisp afternoon full of hope, Claremont took to the field to face Hampton. Unfortunately, the match quickly turned into what can best be described as a character-building experience. Jay V was man of the match with an exceptional defensive performance. Jakob S and Hugo B scored a pair of great tries to reward the second half effort. The final whistle blew with the scoreboard reading 40-10 in favour of Hampton.
A sun-drenched afternoon at Hampton saw three Claremont teams on three pitches in a round robin with the hosts and Halliford. Claremont split the B and C squad equally, applying strength to both. The A team battled hard but lost both games, the B squad lost a tight tussle to Halliford, and were equally unfortunate to see a disallowed try restrict them to a 1-1 draw against Hampton. The C squad took top billing with Will P and Angus T outstanding as the squad comfortably won both games.
