It has been great this week to start the football season off to a strong start with the U13’s, U15’s and U18’s all out in ISFA Cup matches. The U15’s defeated Kingston Grammar School after the game finished 1-1 after 70 minutes of normal time. The team dominated possession effectively and had chances to score but didn’t take them and KGS took the lead. The boys reacted well and after sustained pressure won a penalty which Sam C converted confidently to level up the game. Neither team managed to score in the 2nd half but early into extra time Lucas R made a fantastic run from left back to find himself in the box and he tucked the ball away across the goalkeeper to send the boys into round 2.
It was a game of up and downs for the first team this weekend. There were moments of magic including the six minute hold out defence and the streak of goals in the last five minutes of the game. This team is going to be another strong one for Claremont and we look forward to watching them progress as they play more together.
We had a nail biting start to the 2nd team lacrosse season with a 5-5 draw. There were stand out performances from Player of the Match Megan Thomas and Genna Lowe as well as superb shooting from Polly Roberts around the crease.
A fantastic result for the first match of the season for the U15a’s – winning a fairly one sided game 15-3. A really promising first game of the season, with outstanding goals from Lola C and Yael M, we are very much looking forward to season ahead.
POM: Yasmin M and Leah L. A strong start from the 15b team with a 5-0 lead enhanced Claremont’s confidence and strength within the game. Defence were ferocious and were able to defend bravely against a strong Queen Anne’s side. Matilda, Flora and Yasmin were brilliant at working the ball around the fan, allowing others players to cut in and out to score the majority of the goals. Stick work form the 15b’s were fantastic enabled their victory, well done to all.
The U/14 A Girls Lacrosse team began their season filled with excitement and anticipation. The first half was incredibly challenging, as Queen Anne’s team came out strong, putting Claremont on the back foot. By halftime, the girls were trailing 6-2. A motivational team talk from Ms EC helped calm the team, providing clear guidance for the second half. The players responded with incredible determination, mounting a fantastic comeback, and closing the gap to finish the game narrowly losing 9-8. Well done to Summer L and Thea H, who was named Player of the Match! An amazing effort from the U/14s, and we’re excited to see what the rest of the season holds!
The U14B’s had a significant impact with their first game out for the season. Their grit, determination and adaptability played a tremendous role in their victory. Winning 12-2, the team’s diverse range of skills allowed them to attack the ball successfully and convert the ball in their favour. Well done to Georgia K and Sienna TO who got POM and were supportive throughout the whole game. A great start to the season..
POM: Georgia D and Isabelle S. A well contested match against Queen Anne’s gave us a 2-2 scoreline in the early stages. A few early penalties in defence allowed the opposition to take the lead, but Claremont were quickly back in the game with Ellie W taking the ball to goal with real speed and tenacity. Unfortunately, the opposition took the victory, but Claremont gave them a tough match.
The U/13 B Girls kicked off their season with great excitement and energy. The team showed excellent ball-handling skills and teamwork throughout the match. In the first half, they built a solid lead, heading into halftime 5-1 ahead. However, the second half proved to be more challenging, with the opposition making a strong comeback, and the match ended in a 6-6 draw. Special congratulations to Emma F for being named Player of the Match! Well done to the entire team for an impressive debut performance!
The U14s had an incredible game this week securing a win in the first round of SNS. Their adaptability throughout the game secured a nail-biting finish on a golden goal scored by Holly. The first fixture for this team with some great attack and defence. Well done to all in the team as we progress to the next round!
Following a great start to the season in an emphatic victory against Ewell Castle in week one, Claremont found the follow up match against Dunottar a tougher proposition. In a highly competitive fixture, the superior visiting backs carried them to a 33-22 win, despite the battling determination of the Claremont pack, who won the second half on pure commitment and the scoreboard. Once Rhys D was injured, the home backline structure was compromised, Claremont relentless in their efforts to pull the scoreline back, but ultimately unrewarded for their industry.
A barnstorming start to the season saw Claremont U15A comfortably dispatch Dunottar 43-17. Josh’s H & C were the centres of attention, their midfield partnership too powerful for the host team to manage. A hot foot hattrick from Josh H, barrelling bursts from Sam C, Seb W, Josh C and a fine finish from Fred W overwhelmed the opposition, Chester E-H accurate with four of the conversions. Claremont rang the changes giving the entire 22-man squad plenty of game time, the commitment and potential of this squad a highly promising portent for the season ahead.
