In a thrilling match, Claremont narrowly lost 4-3 in a game against Cobham Free School that saw both sides evenly matched throughout. From start to finish, it was clear that both teams were to share much of the possession and chances on goal. The match began with high intensity, as both teams pushed forward, creating several scoring opportunities early on. Despite the close nature of the game, we were unfortunate to concede a few key goals that ultimately proved to be the difference. However, there were many positives to take from the performance. Grace was outstanding, both defensively and offensively, showing incredible resilience under pressure. Izzy S was a constant threat in the final third, demonstrating excellent footwork and vision to link up with teammates into wider areas. Grace’s great work in the midfield kept CFC in the game for as long as possible, breaking up attacks and driving forward with great solo runs. Well done to all the girls involved!
Claremont entered four teams into the National 2 piece competition. All teams performed brilliantly particularly the u15s, who had some excellent vault scores. Stand out performances came from Mia and Eve. The U10, U11, and U15 all placed 4th within their age groups which is fantastic as there were so many teams competing. The u13s also did brilliantly and placed 5th overall. Well done to Danika who placed 2nd individually in the u11 team.
Year 7 had an excellent afternoon of gymnastics at the Priors Field Gymnastics Festival. Well done to the whole team. Congratulations to Julia S who placed 3rd overall on floor.
U14A-D played successful matches against Caterham this week, securing victories in all four games. U14A had a confident first ten minutes then relaxed to allow the opposition into the game but, with the defence as strong as ever, held out for the win. U14B won a tight match 6-5, with Rosie H prominent in a great overall team performance. U14C stand outs were Freya M and Sash W-L with some precision shooting and excellent fast breaks. The U14D also won 8-2 in a dominant victory.
The Seniors 1st VII and 2nd VII had a highly successful netball fixture against SWPS on Wednesday where they exhibited great determination and displayed good skill in their attacking end. The 1st VII had a great game where they showed some great defence off the backline and converted interceptions well.
The 2nd VII had a competitive game, winning by 2 goals and working really hard to keep possession and attack to post. Well done to all involved!
The U14 A and Bs had a great match against GHS on Thursday where both teams played well and developed throughout the game. Their movement skills and game knowledge has grown, and this was visible in the fixture. Well done to all involved!
The U13 A-D teams had a challenging but developmental match v GHS where they displayed consistent hard work despite the weather, in what was a great competitive fixture. Great work from the U13A who won and have used what they learnt at training in their game.
The U12A netball team had an incredible game on Tuesday night against a strong Tormead side in the third round of Sister in Sport shield. The team showed off their skills through tight defence and a seamless attack. Being up by 10 goals at half time, new players came on and showcased a different style of netball which allowed for a tactical advantage for Claremont. The U12s played some great netball and a well-deserved win, with the final score being 29-18. Roll on the next round!
Regrettably all matches against CLFS were cancelled in respect of the threat posed by Storm Bert. This coming Saturday sees a full block of fixtures against Clares Court in the penultimate weekend of the term.
Swiftly rearranged after last Saturday’s blow out against CLFS, this fixture was again potentially compromised by the intense overnight rain on Tuesday, but managed to kick off under leaden skies away at CLFS. The Claremont pack showed early signs of dominance at the set piece, yet Freemens scored two tries against the run of play. Powerful runs from Harry S-W and Lucas deLT bought Claremont into the match before Sean H dived over to score, but Freemens scored again the dying minutes once again against the run of play to secure a 21-5 victory.
