End of season rugby finale match

Congratulations to our XV rugby team for beating Dunottar 27-21 at Friday night’s thrilling match! Whilst the weather was a chilly 1 degree, the tension on the pitch was hot, as the boys battled out their finale game.

Thank you for the many supporters who provided an electric atmosphere and supported Claremont at this end of season finale game.

Lacrosse county tournament

Claremont had a fantastic day at the Surrey lacrosse county tournament with the U13A and B teams.

The As got through to the semi-final against Guildford High School. They were winning 3-1 for the majority of the match but GHS came back to 3-3 at full time. It was then time for the golden goal. Claremont had the first shot on goal but it was saved and then GHS scored which took them through to the final. It was a very exciting semi-final and they played really well.

The U13B team had a very hard pool against all A teams. All matches were really close, however they came 5th overall in the plate, beating Caterham Bs in the final!

Well done to all involved.

Football

This week has been exciting and busy with the Senior School playing 20 matches across all year groups. It has been great to get games back on now the weather has been warmer and we have made history to field a 4th XI football team for the first time. This team enjoyed wearing their brand-new gold kit at their matches this week. Good luck to all teams who are playing on Saturday morning against Gordon’s School.

Sadly, last week saw the end to our girl’s football cup runs with both the U13 and U14 team being knocked out of the county cup in the quarterfinals. It has been great to see the girls teams improving and we have some upcoming summer competitions to look forward to.

Cross country

Our Prep School runners were the U10 winners at the one of the toughest cross-country meetings at Eagle House School last week! Congratulations!

Last Friday our Year 7’s also completed in at Eagle House School where there were over 700 students competing. Well done to the following students that took part – Eden M, Theo T, Leo B, Austin A, Jessica L, Abi W, Ella Kate R, Freya M.

Netball

U10A-D v St Hilary’s

A highly competitive game between two exciting and attack minded sides saw the U10A game finish in a 10-5 win for Claremont. The Claremont girls started a little timid but grew with confidence as the game went on and progressed the ball throughout the court with some beautiful set plays and around the circle work. Special mention to Helena who used a variety of different passes to reach her teammates and put up a host of successful shots. Good job Year 5 A team!

A fantastic 8-2 win for the B team this week. With a team focus of attacking through the court, the B team extended their lead at half time to 4-1. Tabby has earned a starting place in the B team with fantastic movement off the ball, to create space for herself and other players. Katie had a great defensive game with multiple interceptions which led to goals. Our centre pass attack was positive, by girls driving forward and always having at least two options to every ball. Good job!

The combined C and D team this week faced St Hilary’s in a thrilling 10-0 victory! By gaining depth through the court it was positive to see our girls first ball option as always going forward. After 6-0 at half time, the team were made to make at least six passes before they were allowed to attempt a shot at goal. Our tracking of players was fantastic which led St Hilary’s to only get into their shooting circle once. Great team effort by all the girls who kept pushing for more and more goals! WELL DONE.
