Our annual Student Futures Evening was a highly successful and inspiring event, attended by pupils and families from Years 9–13. The evening provided a valuable opportunity for students to explore future pathways, gain insight into a wide range of careers, and speak directly with professionals and university representatives.

The Mansion was busy with activity as pupils visited information stands from an impressive range of universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, Durham, Exeter and many more. These conversations helped students better understand entry requirements, course options and the realities of student life, while encouraging them to think carefully about their own aspirations. James Darley, CEO of Transform Society delivered a thought-provoking talk on the graduate employment market, highlighting the importance of developing transferable skills such as resilience and leadership.

Professionals from sectors such as Health and Wellbeing, Business and Finance, Arts and Media, Science and Technology, Law and Public Service, and Design and Architecture offered practical advice and shared their personal career journeys. Pupils came prepared with thoughtful questions and showed great enthusiasm and maturity in their discussions.

The evening’s talks were also extremely well received. The session on Oxbridge applications provided clear and helpful guidance, while the talks on AI and the future of careers and on applying to universities in the United States gave students and parents alike much to consider when planning for the years ahead. Student also gained valuable insight into the process of applying for apprenticeships.

We were delighted to see such strong engagement from both pupils and parents, and we hope the evening has helped students feel more confident and motivated about their future choices. Our sincere thanks go to all the universities and professionals who gave their time to support our pupils, and to the families who attended and contributed to making the event such a success.

Could you inspire the next generation with your career journey?

If you would be interested in helping to inspire the next generation, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are currently arranging lunchtime talks for the summer and autumn terms and welcome volunteers who would like to share their experiences and career journeys with our pupils.

We are particularly keen to hear from those who would be happy to deliver a 30-minute session focused on a “day in the life of a…” in their profession for our year 7 and 8 pupils.
