The politics department hosted a very successful digital surgery with Surrey County Councillor, Peter Szanto, on Thursday 19 November facilitated by the Politics Project.  All our politics students were able to zoom in remotely from home and participate in discussions on a wide range of topics from anti-social behaviour to reducing the voting age at local elections. The Politics Project (https://thepoliticsproject.org.uk/) aims to connect young people with politicians to ensure that their voices are heard.  Before speaking with the local councillor, students explored what mattered to them most, understood how local government worked and prepared some ‘stand out’ questions.  Overall it was a highly engaging and empowering experience for all of the students involved.
