Sixth formers were treated to a truly “immersive” performance at The Great Gatsby Immersive in Mayfair on Wednesday. Students dressed up in 1920s Jazz Age attire and were introduced to Jay Gatsby and a host of characters from their core A level literature text: The Great Gatsby. There were opportunities to participate in singing, dancing – including the Charleston and active participation in various scenes. Actors moved around each room, speaking with “partygoers” and developing characterisation and themes as the show developed. Our students thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to experience and have some insight into the world of Gatsby’s mansion. The immersion also provided them with different interpretations of particular scenes, which is invaluable when studying at A level.

A lively, energetic and informative experience which left students with an insight into a bygone time!
