The foyer of the Sir Sydney Camm science and technology building provided a perfect setting to display the textile work of our talented GCSE and A level students this term. On display was a wide variety of textile work, both fashion outcomes: dresses, co-ordinates and jackets as well as triptych boards and wall hangings. The GCSE work was inspired by natural organic structures with outcomes inspired by fungi, bee hives, the rainforest, spiderwebs, snakes, jellyfish, starfish and butterflies.  Year 12 A level students each developed a personal investigation into topics of their choice. The themes investigated included Greek mythology, human anatomy, body image and sky and planets. The very impressive work of Daisy N in Year 13 explored ‘Unconscious Time’ and ‘Nightmares’. The striking bed installation and a mixed media jacket concluded her personal investigation into three nightmares: fear of drowning, being lost in the forest and fear of spiders. Daisy will be continuing her textiles studies next year at Manchester Metropolitan University.
