Huge congratulations to our U11 girls for winning the Surrey Cup! Here’s how they progressed to that all important final:
Travelling away to Micklefield for the quarter final the girls started off strong, pressing high. Displaying amazing link up play they maintained 90% of the ball. Starting the second half 0-0 Claremont got some very close chances hitting the post. Sophie N then netted the the first goal. However, Micklefield equalised in the later stages of the game. Entering extra time the girls worked endlessly where Lucia C scored the winning goal, making the final score 2-1 and through to the semi-final!
Our girls had to travel away again to play Aberdour in the semi-final. Another outstanding performance for the U11A girls, Aberdour kicked off first, with Claremont full of confidence from the last match. The girls started fast working hard in and out of possession, maintaining the speed and control of the match. Lucia C scored 2 great goals putting in an excellent striker’s performance. Every single player on the team played their part making the final score a 2-0 win.
The final…
There was excellent play from both St George’s and our girls throughout the final. 0-0 at the end of full time forced the girls into extra time. Grace stepped up to take a free kick which was the goal of the season (see the video below!). Grace also scored a second goal which was followed by Lucia scoring a penalty to finish the game. Final score was 3-0.
Mr Knight couldn’t have asked for more. So proud of all of the girls – well done!
