During half term, Claremont Sixth Form students embarked on an unforgettable school trip to Morocco! Divided into two groups, the students experienced the rich culture, stunning landscapes, and unique adventures the country has to offer. From bustling souks and historic Kasbahs to trekking in the High Atlas and camel rides in the Sahara, every day was full of excitement, learning, and new experiences.

Read on to follow the journeys of Team 1 and Team 2 as they explored Morocco in their own incredible ways.

TEAM 1

Day 2 – Marrakesh
Our journey began with a vibrant exploration of Marrakesh’s Medina and Souks. We wandered through bustling streets of colour and energy, haggled in the markets, and enjoyed a rooftop lunch overlooking the city.

Days 6 & 7 – Community Projects
We spent two days in a local village giving back. Activities ranged from collecting plastic to painting and decorating walls alongside a local cooperative. Tea with local artisans offered insight into traditional crafts, and a mini football tournament with local children.

Day 8 – Atlas Mountains
Driving across the Atlas Mountains was nothing short of spectacular. From mountain passes to high peaks, the scenery left us breathless and offered a real sense of adventure.

Day 9 – The Sahara Desert
We journeyed into the Sahara Desert for a magical camel trek at dusk.

Day 10 – Sunrise in the Dunes
Rising early, we experienced the desert in all its glory with a sunrise camel ride across the rusty red dunes. Afterwards, we journeyed through the dramatic landscapes of the Anti Atlas and returned via the High Atlas Mountains.

Day 11 – Aït Ben Haddou & Marrakesh
Our final full day brought history and culture together. Exploring the ancient Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, we wandered through its maze of earthen walls and centuries of stories. Returning to Marrakesh, we enjoyed souk shopping before reuniting with Team 2 for our farewell meal.

TEAM 2

Day 2 – High Atlas Mountains
Leaving Marrakesh, we travelled to the Aït Bouguemez Valley, stopping at the stunning Ouzoud Waterfalls. Delicious Moroccan dishes—lamb tagine, vegetable couscous, and chebakia pastries—fuelled our adventure, while the scenery offered a perfect first taste of Morocco’s natural beauty.

Days 4 & 5 – Community Project in Ikhf n Ighir
Our project days in Ikhf n Ighir were a fantastic opportunity to connect with local communities. We painted houses, walls, and lamp posts, and spent afternoons playing games with local children. Everyone worked hard but kept spirits high, creating meaningful and joyful experiences.

Days 6 & 7 – Trekking the Aït Bouguemez Valley
We trekked across the valley under clear blue skies, discovering dinosaur footprints at Tabant and exploring local Kasbahs. Climbing Adazen Mountain brought breathtaking panoramic views from ridge to valley, and every step was paired with laughter, teamwork, and healthy Moroccan meals.

Days 8 & 9 – Desert Bound
Crossing the Tizi n Aït Imi pass to the Upper Mgoun and Rose Valleys offered spectacular landscapes. At Todgha Gorge, towering cliffs impressed us, and by sunset, we were riding camels into the Sahara.

Days 10 & 11 – Aït Ben Haddou & Marrakesh
Our final days were spent exploring the historic Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah and returning to Marrakesh for souk shopping. Reuniting with Team 1 for a farewell dinner.
