As a part of the community partnership programme run at Claremont for sixth form, Jess C in Year 12 was able to work with the local charity Rentstart. They help people find housing and their ultimate aim is to get people back working and on their feet.

Rentstart is a charity based in Walton on Thames who help local people out of homelessness and into secure and independent lives.  Rentstart works with landlords to remove the barriers our clients face in renting places to live, as well as support with education, employment, tenancy, money-management, and wellbeing sessions.  Rentstart told us “We were fortunate to have Jess come to volunteer with us over the course of a few months, she was a delight to work with. We appreciated her positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in,  a credit to Claremont Fan School”.

She was worked on the admin side of Rentstart which included helping with the likes of asset lists, helping with charity event planning and occasionally being exposed to some client work. Her overall experience was really eye opening and what Rentstart are doing is really admirable. This especially poignant seeing as COVID-19 took such a toll on people, charities like Rentstart have been urgently needed.

Through more support from the community, they will be able to have the tools to help more people. She very much enjoyed the experience and recommend people to get involved however they can. Click the link below to find out how you can help rent start.
