Reception children have been immersing themselves in their topic People Who Help Us during the autumn term and as part of their learning, they have been understanding more about the fire service. On Wednesday 29 September the children enjoyed first-hand experience, not only through dressing up as firefighters in their role play areas, but finishing with a visit from the local Surrey Fire and Rescue Service crew. Excitement was sky high, especially when the fire engine’s siren and flashing lights were switched on! The children loved getting a closer look around the fire engine and seeing the fire engine’s equipment. They were even lucky enough to try out the powerful fire hoses that shot out lots of water at high speed!

Huge thanks to the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service who came to visit and helped us understand the importance of fire safety – the children certainly won’t be forgetting the day the fire engine came to school any time soon!
