Year 7 and 8 Track only meet

On 6 May, the second track-only athletics meet took place, with pupils from Years 7 and 8 competing against local schools. Pupils were encouraged to take part in any track event of their choice, providing a great opportunity to try something new or work on improving their personal bests in a competitive setting. Performances were strong across both year groups, and it was fantastic to see so many pupils enjoying themselves while proudly representing the school.

Year 9 and 10 Track and Field Meet

Another stunning summer evening provided the perfect backdrop for the first full athletics meeting for Years 9 and 10, where Claremont pupils delivered a series of outstanding performances. Across both age groups, pupils competed with determination and skill.

Ella S stood out in the Year 9 girls’ javelin and discus events, delivering impressive results. Archie W broke a long-standing 300m record with a lightning-fast time of 42.61 seconds. Giles H continued his mission to set as many throwing records as possible, claiming new school records in both the shot put and discus. On the track, Eloise P delivered a brilliant sprint performance, while Jess impressed with a strong run in the 800m.

Congratulations to the following pupils for setting new school records:

  • Giles H for breaking the year 9 and 10 shot with 12m 50, and the year 9 discus with 33m 04.
  • Archie W for breaking the year 9 300m in an impressive time of 42:61.

Cricket

1st XI Girls v Reeds

The first ever Senior Girls’ 1st XI cricket fixture was a special occasion. This wasn’t intended to be a high-level match, but rather a fun and inclusive opportunity for girls who had played in earlier years to enjoy a game alongside their friends, facing our nearest rivals, Reeds.

The weather couldn’t have been better, and with fantastic spirit from both sides, the teams had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The match was filled with learning moments and, more importantly, surprises as the girls discovered just how capable they really were.

Both teams bowled well, giving batters a valuable chance to spend time at the crease. While fielding is an area for development, the game went down to the final over and finished with just a 3-run difference—testament to how closely matched the teams were.

The overriding sentiment? “When’s the next game—and can we have some kit?” The result may have been the least important part of the day, but the memories and momentum created were priceless.

U15A v CLFS

The U15A cricket team delivered a confident and well-rounded performance to secure a 29-run victory over City of London Freemen’s School. Batting first, the team posted a solid total of 124 runs. Will H anchored the innings with a composed and skilful knock, setting the foundation for a competitive score.

In reply, City of London Freemen’s struggled to build momentum against the Claremont bowling attack. Oliver P had an excellent spell, troubling the batters with accuracy and variation. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and the pressure built steadily as the fielding side maintained their intensity. Ultimately, City of London Freemen’s were restricted to 95 runs, falling short of the target. It was a complete team effort, with both bat and ball contributing to a well-earned win.

U15A v Salesian

Claremont U15A played against Salesian on a difficult pitch and managed to score 93/10. The opposition then chased the score down in under 10 overs. Leo S was the standout batter scoring 14.

U15A Girls v Dunottar

Claremont’s U15A team delivered a commanding performance against Dunottar School, securing a comprehensive 124-run win. Batting first, Claremont posted an impressive total of 164 runs, led by a fluent 53 off 42 balls from opener Adeline, who set the tone with a confident display at the top of the order.

In reply, Dunottar were dismissed for 60 runs in the face of a disciplined Claremont bowling attack. Sophie W was the pick of the bowlers with outstanding figures of 3 for 12, while Alyssa (2 for 4) and Adeline I (2 for 8) provided excellent support to seal the victory. A dominant all-round performance from Claremont highlights the team’s growing form and confidence.

U14A v Esher High School

Claremont U14A Boys played Esher High and after the opposition posting 102/8 off 20 overs, the boys tried to chase the score but only managed 60/8 off 11.2 over. POM was Max S taking 4 wickets for 7 runs in 4 overs.

U13A Boys v Whitgift

The U13A boys played away at Whitgift and restricted the hosts to 86/10. Claremont then chased down the target in 11.3 overs, with Hugo B scoring 38 not out and Max S 23 not out. Star player was Aneel K, who impressed with the ball, taking three wickets.

U13A Boys v Caterham

In an exciting and competitive match, Claremont chased 129/4, setting a steady pace against some excellent opposition bowling. They finished 22 runs short of the target. Hugo B was the star opener, scoring 51.

U13A Girls v The Latymer

Claremont travelled to North London for their Sisters in Sport Cup match, returning home comfortable winners in this softball pairs format. Latymer batted first, posting 237 runs from their eight overs, with wickets taken by Lexi and Lulu in a tight bowling display. Mia and Alice came in as the second pair for Claremont and took the match decisively away from Latymer, smashing 34 runs from their two overs to secure a commanding total of 274. It was a really lovely game, with the girls on both sides showing great support for each other, exemplified by a charming Player of the Match exchange — Mia and Alice were nominated by the hosts.

U13B v Caterham

Claremont batted first, scoring 135 for 7. Dylan P was the pick of the batters with 31 not out off 25 balls, including 6 fours. His partnership with Freddie F-O was crucial, adding 44 runs off 30 balls to get the team going.

Freddie and Dylan opened the bowling, each taking a caught and bowled wicket in their first overs. Harry B and Dylan were the standout bowlers, taking 2 wickets each. However, Caterham’s middle order batted well, with their 7th batter hitting 27 off 17 balls to ultimately secure a narrow victory in a very close match. Player of the Match was Dylan P.

U12A v Caterham

Claremont won the toss and elected to field on a beautiful, warm, sunny day. Straight away, the Caterham batters showed their experience by running well between the wickets, recognising the need to run even when the ball went straight through to the keeper. They also used the pace of Ethan and guided the ball into gaps; on a lightning-fast outfield, they quickly scored runs. However, two good catches by Angus and Alex changed the game. What looked like a very difficult score became achievable as Claremont bowled accurately, limiting Caterham to a good but attainable 126.

Claremont’s innings started well, with Angus and Alex both looking comfortable, but in a blink, both Angus and then Ethan were out in consecutive balls. This knocked the stuffing out of Claremont’s response. Caterham’s opening bowlers were accurate and probing, and with few opportunities to score, wickets fell regularly. The boys never really threatened to win the game.

There were some flashes of brilliance—Angus’s catch and Jimmy W’s hook shot off a full toss—but overall, this was a game where the boys allowed too many extras and gave away wickets too cheaply. Player of the Match was Angus T.

U12A Girls v Caterham

The U12A girls put in a fantastic team performance in their latest match. Gigi was outstanding with the bat, playing confidently and scoring valuable runs to set a strong foundation for the team. Isla bowled brilliantly, delivering fast and accurate balls and taking two wickets to put the opposition under pressure. It was a well-fought match with great teamwork all around — a proud day for the team!

U12A Girls v Epsom College

U12A girls played Epsom College in the Surrey cup.  Put into bat, the girls managed to get to 90 all out. They then bowled exceptionally well and managed to get the strong Epsom openers out, but the middle order batters chased the score down winning by 7 wickets. Grace A batted well scoring 16 not out.

U12B v Caterham

The U12B lost the toss and batted first. Eddie had an impressive innings, retiring on 29 runs. The team achieved a total score of 101 runs. Oscar started the bowling and in his first over bowled out their main batsman, but the wicket was disallowed due to a no-ball. Extras were the highest contributors for the opposition, which is an area the team will need to improve. Caterham scored 102 for the loss of 4 wickets. Arthur and Charlie both led the team vocally and effectively in the field. Player of the Match was Casper for a solid batting performance and an excellent display behind the stumps.

The next two matches were extremely close, both ending 2–2 and going to deciding tie-breaks. Against Tormead, the tie-break ended 10–8 in their favour—a narrow and unlucky loss that could have gone either way. However, the girls bounced back against Prior’s Field, winning the tie-break 10–3. It was a full day of quality tennis, competitive rallies, and great team spirit. Well done to Anais P, Olivia B, Poppy M, and Jessica L for their resilience and teamwork throughout the day!
